Political commentator Michael Brooks was only 36 years old when his life ended due to a ‘sudden medical condition.’
And no matter what side of the aisle you are on, that’s the kind of news that should make us all take pause.
“It is with a heavy heart that we announce the unexpected passing of Michael Brooks: a son, brother, friend, and true comrade to so many,” Brooks’ team said on Instagram Monday (July 20) regarding the co-host of the Majority Report podcast.
“Michael believed in bringing people together in the struggle for love & justice, fighting for all poor & working people, a struggle that he understood to be global. He knew the only way we could do this was by bringing people together & made his life’s work bringing people from different backgrounds and countries together. We hope you join us in honoring him by continuing that work,” the post continued.
“It is impossible to capture the impact he had and he will be missed sorely. His family & friends want to ensure this work continues and are preparing plans for the best way to ensure this fight continues.”
Brooks’ team revealed that his family would release a statement in the future about continuing Michael’s work, which at this time is uncertain how they will go about it.
Brooks also was the host of The Michael Brooks Show on YouTube, a program he launched back in 2017.
“I met Michael Brooks years ago when a friend of a friend put us in touch,” reflected MSNBC host Chris Hayes in a tweet about the loss of his political comrade. “He wanted to get a drink and pick my brain about media and he was so obviously brilliant and thoughtful and funny and wise in that one convo I remember saying, “You’re gonna be fine.” RIP.”
We send our condolences to all those who mourn the loss of Michael Brooks.
