Recently, This is Us creator Dan Fogelman was quoted in Deadline that there were plans in place to end the much-loved show after a total of six seasons. And while fans are still trying to take in this somewhat devastating news, This is Us star Milo Ventimiglia headed to the set of The Ellen DeGeneres Show to set the record straight.

Well, sort of.

“We never know where we’re going to go,” Ventimiglia said on the episode which aired on Thursday (Feb. 21.) “We never know what’s going to happen. The show could have a huge spike in season six and everybody wants more beyond that. But I think creatively they have an idea of what they’d like to do to kind of wrap it up in this nice story.”

And as far as he is concerned, fans should take comfort in that.

“At least the fans know they’re going to get three more seasons, which is nice to commit a little more,” Ventimiglia told DeGeneres. “It’s not like, will it be on, won’t it be on? Beyond that, could be there will be more, I don’t know.”

So what do you think? Would you be okay with the idea of This is Us ending after just six seasons? As far as we are concerned, we don’t even want to think that far.
