Nicholas Tucci passed away Tuesday (March 3) at just 38 years old.

Tucci was best known for his roles in a series of television shows such as Quantico, Homeland, The Blacklist and Daredevil.

According to a Facebook post written by his father on Friday (March 6),  Tucci’s health battles were something he was trying to hide.

“This is Alexander Tucci, Nick’s father,” the post reads. “On Tuesday, March 3, Nick died at the Smilow Cancer Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut. Nick chose to keep his illness private so that he could continue to pursue his professional and artistic dreams for as long as possible. In the last year, he was able to audition, go on location, and continue the work he loved so much.”

Tucci’s father also took the time to thank the many people who his son came in contact with throughout his career.

“To those of you in the film, television, and theater communities…thank you for guiding, encouraging, and supporting Nick,” he continued. “To those of you who enjoyed Nick’s work on the screen and stage…thank you for recognizing his talent and appreciating his efforts. To all…thank you for your gift of friendship to my son.”

Nick’s dad later followed up with a second post about the services for his son.

“It is my intention to continue to use this platform in the coming days to recognize acts of kindness and to share some glimpses of the special efforts that people are making to remember Nick and to support us as we move forward,” Alexander wrote.  “In the picture that accompanies this message, I’m with several of Nick’s high school friends and teammates who visited with us today. We spent some time toasting Nick, sharing stories, and turning back the clock to a very significant time in all our lives. It was a wonderful afternoon.

“The impending public health crisis has impacted our plans for the gathering to honor Nick’s memory that we had originally planned for March 29 on the campus of Wesleyan University in our hometown of Middletown, Connecticut. As soon as we can recalibrate and soldify our “Plan B,” I’ll be sure to share all the particulars.

Formal services for Tucci will be announced. RIP
