Leave it to the cast of “Stranger Things” to keep things in perspective.
In a new episode released on Friday (March 20) on Apple TV’s Carpool Karaoke: The Series, the Stranger Things cast such as Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Finn Wolfhard, Sadie Sink and Noah Schnapp all climbed into a car and decided to put on an eighties marathon of songs. Reported on by E! News, the cast could be seen singing retro favorites such as Stevie Nicks “Edge of Seventeen,” Elton John’s “Tiny Dancer” and even The Notorious B.I.G. “Big Poppa.”

Of course, these fun times were recorded before the coronavirus began its cruel spread across the world. On Wednesday (March 18,) production on the show had to slow to a halt due to coronavirus concerns.
“I was having phone calls with Netflix while directing takes and blocking scenes,” recalls the show’s executive producer and director Shawn Levy to Variety magazine. “We shared the news with our cast and crew that we would be pausing production out of an abundance of caution. There were no sick crew members, no one was exhibiting symptoms, but it seemed like the right thing to do.”
And yes, making that decision was far from easy.
“When you’re shooting, you create this micro society, this community. You’re aware of the world beyond, but in all of my years directing and producing, I’m hard pressed to come up with any comparisons for this truly global situation,” Levy says.
