Life has been far from easy for Teen Mom 2 Leah Messer. But never did we know how bad the bad times really got…until now.

“There’s a steep cliff off the side of the road just up ahead,” Messer writes in an exclusive excerpt shared by US Magazine from Lesser’s upcoming memoir Hope, Grace & Faith about a time when she contemplated suicide. “It would be so easy to drive my car over the edge. Then it would all be over. No more worries. No more failure. No more pain.”

Her own individual pain came as a result of her daughter Ali and her battle with muscular dystrophy. Fans of the much-loved reality show will recall that Messer shares twins Ali and Aleeah with ex-husband Corey Simms and daughter Adalynn with ex-husband Jeremy Calvert.

Luckily, it was in fact her children that made Lesser make the crucial decision to live on for another day.

“Instead, I slow down and pull over to the side of the road,” recounts Lesser, who also starred in the MTV show 16 & Pregnant.  “I turn off the engine and put my head down on the steering wheel. A lifetime of tears comes pouring out of the deepest part of my soul.”

She then went on to say, “it would be selfish to abandon them, to leave them with the same void I’ve been trying to fill my whole life. For better or worse, I’m all they have. I need to be stronger. I need to get the hell out of here and fix myself, so I can be the mother that my daughters deserve.”
