After years of trials and tribulations, Real Housewives of New Jersey star Teresa Giudice and husband Joe Giudice have split.

“They discussed their future when Teresa and the girls went to Italy in early November and they agreed that each had to move on,” a source close to the family tells People magazine. “They are doing so amicably and very slowly. Joe has been out on a few dates, Teresa has not. She has been too busy with the girls, with work obligations and taking care of her father. She is happy for Joe. They have been very friendly with one another and are very supportive of each other’s happiness. Neither is interested in a long distance relationship.”

It’s a sad situation for all involved, especially considering that the couple has been married for twenty years and share four children together. However, the strain of two prison sentences in recent years having to do with their financial dealings seemed to be too much for the two to take. It certainly doesn’t help either that Joe was recently deported to Italy since he was not a citizen of the United States.

Joe also took to Instagram, sharing separate photos of himself and Teresa, with the caption that said, “It’s time to let go.” With a link to a story about the couple’s separation.

Joe served a 41-month sentenced stemming from charges mail, wire and bankruptcy fraud after his wife Teresa served an 11 month sentence. Joe was then scheduled for deportation to his native Italy, where he currently resides.

Following the deportation news, Joe and Teresa’s oldest daughter Gia spoke out. “We have so many plans to do as a family when he gets out,” she wrote. “I need my father to be here. My father belongs with us and his entire family.”

The family recently visited Joe in Italy, where Gia shared family photos on her Instagram account. From the photos Joe is posting, it looks like he’s enjoying his new life in Italy, while awaiting the decision to his appeal of deportation.
The source went on to tell People that there are no plans for divorce at this time.
