Per the usual, the finale episode for season 2 of “This Is Us” brought the emotions, but in a much different way than episodes prior.
The Pearsons were finally in the same place at the same time for Kate and Toby’s wedding, but of course– Jack is still dead. As the big day begins to unfold we learn that in Kate’s dreams, she’s been dreaming of a vow renewal ceremony between her mother and father, but Toby is not in the dreams, prompting her to question her own wedding. In the middle of all of this, Toby has forgotten her something old for the ceremony and brothers Randall and Kevin are at work trying to figure out a solution. Instead of being a normal person, Kate takes off and tries to buy ice cream to serve with cake as her something old and ends up in the woods with Jack’s ashes.
Back at the cabin, Beth is having some real issues with Deja, but luckily her cool photographer cousin was there to save the day. We finally meet Toby’s parents– Jack Arnold from “The Wonder Years” and the lady who has been in everything (Wendy Malick). They kind of suck and tell Toby that he shouldn’t marry Kate.
Eventually, Kate makes her way back to the wedding where she has a decent moment with Rebecca even though Rebecca was acting a tad dramatic all day.
Much to my surprise, Kate and Toby actually get married and Kevin doesn’t ruin the wedding with his toast. As the wedding wraps up we see Deja take a baseball bat to Randall’s car because Toby’s mom said she looked like Randall.
The actual tears and confusion come in the form of the flash forwards for next season, which really caused an uproar on the Internet.

2. You need to rewatch that wedding scene where they all take a deep breath and take a deep breath, sweetie.
When #ThisIsUs makes you play the worst case scenario game from now until next season and your worst case is that Beth is dead, and you’re not going to sleep until September, and you haven’t been this anxious since the dang Crock Pot light came back on.

3. Oh, that’s cold. Real cold.
Jack and Rebecca clearly never played “worst case scenario” otherwise they would have seen me coming. #ThisIsUs
