“Southern Charm” Star Thomas Ravenel Quits Show Amid Sexual Assault Claims

Ever since its debut on the Bravo network back in 2014, reality show “Southern Charm” has had its share of drama both on the show and off. And it this drama that is currently revving up thanks to reports that original cast member Thomas Ravenel is leaving the show as he battles against sexual assault allegations.

It was earlier this year that Ravenel was accused of sexual assault, with a supposed rape occurring back in January of 2015. On Tuesday (Aug. 14,) reports say that Ravenel announced on his Twitter page that he’s not doing the show anymore and that the show itself took advantage of him.

“I’m not doing the show anymore,” he tweeted on his now-private account. “In the contract they have the right to fictionalize your story. They took advantage of me. I decided I’ve got too much to lose and informed them I’m not coming back.”

This most recent drama is just another one for Ravenel, who was a former South Carolina State Treasurer before resigning in 2007 after being indicted on federal drug charges.

And while all of this drama has to be taking a toll on him, Ravenel seems to be focusing on his family as of late, sharing pics on his Instagram of his children that he shares with fellow cast member Kathryn Dennis. “As they survey the Atlantic Ocean, I’m wondering what they are thinking,” he wrote alongside a couple of pics of his kids back on July 30.  “Perhaps, just pondering the wonder and enormity of it all.”
