It was an ending unlike any other. The Bachelorette’s Hannah Brown got engaged to Jed Wyatt and immediately broke off the engagement before the season even ended.

As the finale aired live on Tuesday night (July 30), Hannah, now a single woman made the bold move of asking runner up, Tyler Cameron, whom she dumped, out on a date for drinks.

“I know that with Tyler, he’s been so supportive and so respectful of me, not just on our journey together but even afterwards. Our relationship was real to me and special and everything I said, I meant and I felt. It didn’t just go away and I still have feelings,” Hannah said to a cheering crowd. I’m really confident of who I am now and being on my own and growing and really taking everything I’ve learned in what I want in a next relationship. I want someone to be bold and I am bold and I make bold moves. You’re an incredible guy and I’m a single girl, so I don’t know I just thought maybe we could go for a drink and hang out.”

“I would love to,” Tyler responded. “Just tell me when and I’m there.”

While Tyler agreed to the date on the live finale, he appeared on Nick Viall’s podcast, Viall Files, following the show and explained that he was caught off guard by the date.

“It was definitely, you know, surprising, but I think it was inevitable,” Tyler said. “I think that we just both needed to have that time to talk and, you know, just see each other and be there for each other. I think we have a great relationship, you know, and friendship and that’s something that doesn’t need to be cut off because that didn’t work out. I think that’s immature.”

He added, “We went through a whole lot together. You know, that was a crazy journey to share and experience with somebody. And I value and cherish our relationship and our friendship and that’s something I don’t wanna just cut off cold turkey because it didn’t work out. [She’s] someone I would hope to have a drink with and see what happens and take it one step at a time,” he added.

But what about rumors that Tyler could be the next Bachelor. That would be off the table if he connects with Hannah again.

“I don’t know. I’m all over the map about that one,” Tyler said on the podcast. “You know, I have a lot of things I gotta sit down and think about when it comes to that. That’s a lot of responsibility. It’s a great opportunity, but it comes with a lot of responsibility. I don’t know.”

And as for what Tyler thinks about his former girlfriend, Hannah Brown. “She’s incredible. She’s so strong and powerful. The world is her’s,” he said. “She’ll be just fine.”

Tyler also took to Instagram to share an open letter to Hannah.

Dear HB, What a ride… I’ll make this short and sweet,” he wrote. “This journey with you is something that I will always cherish. I am so grateful for all the experiences that we shared together. You taught me so much about myself and pushed me to be a better man. I learned so much from you and so did the rest of Bachelor Nation. You were what we all needed as a lead. You showed strength and grace in the most beautiful way. You kept it real and gave us all of you. As one chapter closes, another one begins. The world is yours girl! Excited to see what you do with it. Looking forward to that drink. Forever your biggest fan,

Cue the collective, “Aww.”
