As the world continues to process the heartbreaking news of the tragic helicopter accident in Calabasas, California that killed nine, including NBA star Kobe Bryant and his daughter, Gianna, Kobe’s wife shared how Gianna’s classmates are attempting to heal.
Vanessa Bryant shared photos and video on her social media pages of ceremonies at Gianna’s Harbor Day School in Newport Beach, California. Vanessa wrote, “My Gianna. God I miss you. I’ve been so lucky to have woken up to see your gorgeous face and amazing smile for 13 years. Wish it would’ve been until my last breath. Mommy loves you to the moon and back. Infinity plus 1.”
During the emotional event, the 13-year-old girl’s basketball jersey number was retired and a group of students honored their classmate with a performance of Maroon 5’s “Memories,” however other students and teachers shared memories and Gianna’s coach said, “She was the heart and soul of this team. Her competitive nature was infectious.” He went on to say, “Gigi was one of the fiercest competitors I’ve ever seen.”
