As the season 12 winner of America’s Got Talent, ventriloquist Darci Lynne Farmer didn’t have to come back to compete on America’s Got Talent: The Champions. And when the 50 states didn’t vote her into the finals a few weeks back, she didn’t have to return as a wildcard contestant.
But she did.
Because, heck, you can just feel how much she wants to be THE champion.
“Just to have a second chance at it, it’s awesome,” Farmer tells People magazine.
She certainly delivered a champion-worthy performance on Monday (Feb. 11) when she stepped on stage with her trusty friend Petunia and sang an operatic song that wowed the crowd.
“Opera is definitely challenging,” Farmer says. “It’s probably one of the most impressive things I’ve done in my ventriloquism career. I would love to do it more, it impresses and its fun to do. I definitely like to keep the audience on their toes and anticipating a surprise factor of my performance. Just to see their faces when I do my thing is awesome. I enjoy that part of it.”
The performance even wowed America’s Got Talent judge Simon Cowell.
“It’s hard enough at your age to sing opera, but you’re doing it through a rabbit,” Cowell quipped after the performance.
America’s Got Talent: The Champions airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
