Former WWE Wrestler Ashley Massaro dead at age 39

Condolences to the family of former WWE wrestler, Ashley Massaro, who passed away on Thursday, May 16 at the age of 39.

According to TMZ, Ashley was taken from her home in New York to the hospital where she was pronounced dead on the morning of May 16. While the cause of death has not been revealed, TMZ reports that it is a “non-criminal” death.

Ashley became an official member of the WWE after winning the WWE Diva Search in 2005. She later left the WWE in 2008 and competed for survival on the reality series, Survivor. However, the blonde stunner was voted off the island in the second episode. The New York native returned to professional wrestling by competing in a lesser known circuit, Zero1 Professional Wrestling USA.

“We are saddened to learn of the tragic death of former WWE Superstar Ashley Massaro,” WWE said in a statement. “She performed in WWE from 2005-2008 and was beloved by her fellow Superstars and fans around the world. WWE offers its condolences to Ashley’s family and friends.”

The 39-year-old aslso appeared in the CW’s Smallville in 2007 and music videos, including  Timbaland’s video, “Throw It on Me” and  in Rev Theory’s video for “Hell Yeah.”

Ashley’s last post on Instagram came on May 7. The wrestler posted a throwback photo in a bathing suit from a shoot in Las Vegas.
