After putting his own rowdy, foot-stompin’ spin on the classic “Delta Dawn,” last week, Barrett Baber kept it simple and old school with his Top 10 performance of Conway Twitty’s “Love To Lay You Down,” on “The Voice” for #TeamBlake.

Barrett got back to his roots and his guitar for this performance telling coach Blake Shelton, “this is the real me.”

Barrett finished his number with seconds to spare on the live show, but that didn’t stop Adam Levine from throwing down the praise, “That was my favorite performance from you in a while. I felt like you were getting back to your roots… I finally saw that thing I saw when I first heard you sing again.”

Of course, Blake agreed, “So freakin’ good, man. I have never heard you sing better than that. I agree with Adam. That’s the best you have performed on this show so far.”

I was a bit worried about the salaciousness of this tune, but Barrett managed to make it into a classic love song versus a raunchy tale of lust.
