Before Luke Bryan was the CMA Entertainer of the Year and selling out some of the largest stadiums in America, he was just a kid from Georgia trying to make it in the music industry. Part of his drive to make it came on the heels of the early deaths of both his brother and sister. His brother died in a car accident and the cause of his sister’s death is still unknown.
To honor his siblings and help others face tragedy, Bryan wrote “Drink a Beer.”
In the face of another family tragedy, Bryan was unable to attend the CMT Artists of the Year ceremony, so his good friends Lady Antebellum and songwriter, Chris Stapleton, took his place at the show to honor Bryan and his family.
Bryan even tweeted about it.
That was amazing. Truly. Thank you Charles, Dave, Hillary and Chris! Beautiful!!! Thank you fans for your love.
