Not just anyone can cover a Loretta Lynn and Conway Twitty classic, so it’s a good thing Patty Loveless and Vince Gill were on hand at Lynn’s induction into the “Austin City Limits” Hall of Fame to do it right. Lynn was inducted in June, but a television special is set to air this week.
Before bringing Gill to the stage to sing “After The Fire is Gone,” Loveless said, “…he’s very special to me and I couldn’t do this without him.” The two then traded verses so flawlessly it was almost like Lynn and Twitty were singing.
Lynn first appeared on the trailblazing TV series “Austin City Limits” in 1983.
She has been inducted into more music halls of fame than any other female recording artist.
